One of the important things that an author can do even before they get their book published is to promote and market the book. Let people know it's coming, and sometimes just posting on social media doesn't work (depending on the number of followers etc). If the author is not able to do something that is involved with publishing and marketing their book, it's a good idea to outsource it. Look for promotions or even book blog tours with experts or those who have experience, especially in the literary world. Sometimes it's the fellow authors that have other "jobs" that are in the writing field, and can assist. Know your budget, and know what the promoter or blog tour company (or whoever you want to market your work) can and can't guarantee.
