Tonight, the show focused on memorializing actress Cicely Tyson, who passed away January 28, 2021 at the age of 96.
Cicely Tyson's biography "Just as I am" was published on January 26, 2021 just two days before she passed away. Tyson was an amazing actress for over 70 years, performing in movies and television, as well as on Broadway. Some of Tyson's work included her appearances on the ABC television show, How to get away with Murder, starring Viola Davis, which she portrayed starting at age 90. She also played in Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman, as well as the movie, The Help.
Cicely Tyson was an inspiration for both McKensie and Amy, and they are deeply heartbroken over her passing.
In next season's Write to Reel, the hosts will focus more on her book "Just as I am" as Ms. Tyson went from being on the "Reel" to telling her story in a book. Ms. Tyson, will be missed.
